Tools of the Trade

Well.... more of tools of the creator, not necessarily trade use, but if you are wanting to create content for poser or daz, then these tools will help a great deal. Some are purchasable and some are free ensure you check the read me for limitations of use) These are what I use and below are only suggestions and you may wish to use other types of software.

Please note that any purchases you made is your decision.

Very simple RSR Converter that converts most existing Poser RSRs into PNGs.
freebie created by Dizzi at renderosity
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/details.php?item_id=57197

On newer versions of poser you may find that your thumbs no longer show where an rsr file is used, this will convert rsr files to an actual png image.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Geometry Stripper

Free Software by JHoagland
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/details.php?item_id=48560

If you save a prop from an imported obj in poser, the geometry will also be included and the use of the obj is no longer needed, this can be good, however if you are loading more than one of those items into a scene then it will get very heavy on memory.

By using the stripper, you will retain the obj and the prop will have all the other info, when you click on the prop it will call on the obj for the information. Also if you save the prop after it has been stripped the file is alot smaller and you can then save more than one option with differnt textures as the file size isnt that much different from the pose/material file.

SpawnCharacterP6

Free Software by svdl
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/details.php?item_id=49770

Use on many figures where you have created your own custom morph, this creates a pose file which you can inject into the model.

Please note that you cannot redistribute the morph if you have used pre purchased copyrighted morphs (eg DAZ or Capsces morph packs, you need to have used morphs which you have created by loading a morph target from an altered obj.

Not all figures work and need to have empty injection channels, the generation 3 and 4 mil figures from daz work fine.

Tool Collection for Poser

Purchasable from Renderosity - by Dimension3D - $16.00
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=37406

This is a collection of tools, the main one I use is the concloth, which conforms a garment to the figure it is intended for. This will create most of the rigging for you and you will only then need to do tweeking within the poser set up room, (skirts especially)

Other tools I have yet to use.

Morphing Clothes

Purchasable from Renderosity - by Dimension3D - $22.80
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/morphing-clothes/64629

This will transfer the morphs from the figure into the garment, includes crosstalk option.
When using this you can select any or all of the morphs or the main ones, number of morphs used will determine the final file size so dont go overboard.

ShowScaleAllV4

Free software by Les Bentley at Renderosity
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/details.php?item_id=55538

Alot of the time, scale dials are hidden, and this utility allows you to alter the scales by letting the dials show. This is good for things like changing the size of parts of the body. I have managed to use this on figures other than v4.
